Finest Monument Craftsmanship
"Where The Pride of Craftsmanship Still Counts"
Your choice for memorializing may in part be determined by cemetery regulations. Each cemetery establishes their own regulations as to material, size, and finish of memorial. Each section within a cemetery can have different regulations. If you have not purchased cemetery lots yet, you might want to keep this mind. It is quite common for families to purchase grave sites only to be disappointed later to find they are restricted in their choice of memorial. If you are not certain of the regulations of the cemetery, talk with them or call us – will be happy to help you!
What types of memorials are available?
Granite and bronze are the most commonly required materials. Marble or natural boulder monuments are acceptable in some local cemeteries. Most people will choose granite except when cemetery regulations require bronze markers. Granite memorials offer much more flexibility of design, require less maintenance and are more cost effective. Marble, although beautiful, is generally not recommended. Because of its character of being soft and brittle (making it susceptible to damage and corrosion) many cemeteries do not allow it. Natural boulder monuments are acceptable in only a few Denver Metro cemeteries.
Do any cemeteries require the memorial to be purchased from them?
No. We can provide you memorial in virtually any cemetery. The rare exception is for a few individual cemetery sections, where the cemetery sells the grave site and the memorial as a “package.” Normally you will know if this applies, as it is very unusual. Some cemeteries do sell monuments and markers and certainly it is smart to compare quality and prices. We are confident that our service, quality and prices will convince you of choosing Mile High Memorials!
Where do we start to design a memorial?
As you stand near your cemetery property and look around, you will probably see memorials that you like or dislike. What you see in size, color, shape, style and engraving design will be a good start. It will help you determine whether you want the memorial to “fit in” or to “stand out.” You will probably know if you would prefer a traditional design or something more unique. Our photo album and brochures usually give most people a good starting point. At this point we can help you design the memorial.
What types of designs can be done?
Designs show in brochures or the photo album are only examples of what can be done. Granite memorials can be personalized by selecting from a multitude of different granite colors, shapes sizes, and finishes. They can be further personalized with custom engraving or etching. We utilize a computer program for design assistance – we can size artwork to “custom fit” a monument. Lettering can be done in many fonts and in many sizes.
